Getting Started

The steps listed below are designed to assist possible participants enrolling in the Southern Energy Training Consortium (SETC) program. If you have questions about any of the steps, please contact Tiffany Mitchell at 901-333-4528.

  1. Apply to Southwest. If you are not currently enrolled as a Southwest student visit the Admissions and Records website for enrollment information.
  2. Complete enrollment documents. Complete the SETC Intake Form (application) and gather all of the documents indicated on the enrollment documents page. Return the completed SETC Intake Form (application) to Tiffany Mitchell, Macon Cove Campus, Fulton Room 321 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The SETC Intake Form (application) can be faxed to 901-333-4496 or mailed to:

  3. Eligibility and Individual Employment Plan. Once the SETC office determines eligibility, participants will be contacted and meet with program coordinators and Engineering Technologies Associate Professors Lisa Jones and Cindy Fowinkle to conduct an assessment, determine a coursework of study and develop an Individual Employment Plan.

Note: Interested individuals must ensure they are advised by the coordinator of the qualified training courses. Not all technical electives are covered by the SETC grant.

  1. Follow-up. Follow-up will be conducted by the case manager, Susan Wilson, who will work closely with all participants to ensure academic success and answer questions related to the program and training's.
