Bob Moore, Veterans Affairs Coordinator

Welcome to Bob Moore, Southwest’s new Veterans Affairs Coordinator.  Moore brings to the position a love of teaching, along with a desire to help other veterans succeed in college.   

Moore earned an A.S. degree in agriculture from Jackson State Community College, B.S. degree in business administration from Austin Peay State University, M.S. in agriculture from Murray State University, and an M.S. in biology from Western Kentucky University. 

Moore’s teaching footprint is expansive, covering several colleges in Tennessee and even in Afghanistan. He taught at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville; Christian Brothers University in Memphis; Jackson State Community College in Jackson; Nashville State Community College in Nashville, and Balkh University in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan.

After a military career that spanned more than four decades and included combat tours in both Afghanistan and Vietnam, Moore retired from the U.S. Army in 2015. His military uniform and beekeeping jacket are on display at the National Guard’s Post 9/11 Gallery in Washington, D.C., in recognition of his contributions to apiculture and agricultural development in Afghanistan.
