Students at Southwest must take these steps to register for courses:
New Students
You will need your high school transcripts or GED certificate. You should
plan to have your transcripts forwarded to Southwest well before regular
registration. If you are under 21, you must submit official ACT/SAT National
Test scores prior to being admitted or pay to take the ACT Residual Test before
enrolling. ACT/SAT scores will be used for placement into college-level or
college-preparatory course work. Placement decisions will be based on valid
scores less than three years old. If you are 21 or older, you will be required
to take the placement test in reading, writing and math. Before attempting to
register, verify that your transcripts have been received by Southwest. You may
also wish to bring copies of transcripts and National ACT scores.
Steps for registration are:
Students transferring from another college will need their transcripts from their previous college as well as high school transcripts. You should request these well before regular registration. Before attempting to register, verify that your transcripts have arrived at Southwest.
Steps for registration are:
Students registering for credit courses to transfer to your home institution follow the same procedure as transfer students. It is the student’s responsibility to ascertain that Southwest credits will transfer to the home institution.
Registration is not complete until fees are paid. You are subject to being dropped from classes if fees are not paid by the deadline.
Students who plan to park their vehicle on campus will need a parking permit, available from the Public Safety Office at Macon Cove and Union Avenue campuses, and from the office at the centers.
All students will need a photographic ID card, available at the Student Activities Office.
Students who want to audit courses must register during the late registration period. Students may not use My.Southwest or TRAVIS to register to audit a course.
Students who apply for admissions late (less than a month prior to regular registration) and students who have not received admission letters should contact the Admissions, Records and Recruitment Office for registration instructions. Some students may be allowed to register for one term without having met all admission requirements. Such students’ registration for future terms will be placed on hold until their admissions file is complete. All required documentation must be on file to receive Veterans Affairs benefits and federal financial aid.
