STCC's Martre Signs Six Recruits for Women's Basketball Team

Andrea Martre, women's head basketball coach at Southwest Tennessee Community College, announced today that six student athletes have accepted scholarships to play for the Saluqis next season. Coach Martre said the recruits have the skills that will enhance the Lady Saluqis' inside-outside approach to playing basketball.

A two-time winner of the Tennessee Junior/Community College Athletic Association's (TJCCAA) Coach of the Year Award, Coach Martre directed her team to a 22-9 record this season. The Lady Saluqis captured first place in the TJCCAA Region VII Tournament and earned a trip to the Women's National Junior College Division I Championship Tournament in Salina, Kansas. Coach Martre's career record with the Saluqis is 78-59. She is depending on the recruits to play a vital role in her hopes for another winning campaign for the 2001-2002 season.

The recruits are: Latosha Bailey, 6-2 center, a transfer student from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas; Jordan Morgan, 6-0 forward, Millington, TN Central High School; Tenesha Gaither, 5-10 forward, Raleigh-Egypt High School in Memphis; Christol McClain, 5-7 guard, Wooddale High School in Memphis; Christy Craig, 5-5 guard, Bolton, TN High School; and Shunta Jones, 5-5 guard, Frayser High School in Memphis.

Please note attached synopsis of the recruits.
