STCC to Host Spring Meeting of the American Association of Physics Teachers
More than 100 college and high school Physics teachers from across the state are expected to attend the spring meeting of the Tennessee Conference of the American Association of Physics Teachers (TAAPT) Friday, April 6, and Saturday, April 7. Southwest Tennessee Community College is the host institution. The sessions will be held on the STCC Macon Cove Campus, 5983 Macon Cove.
Friday's activities will start at 6:00 p.m. with a dinner in the Macon Cove Cafeteria. The opening program starts at 8:00 p.m. in Farris Auditorium. Dr. Robert M. MacQueen, Professor and Chair of the Physics Department at Rhodes College, is the keynote speaker. Saturday at 8:00 a.m., the attendees will gather at Fulton Auditorium for the presentation of papers. The presentations will involve research in Physics, Astronomy and Pedagogy.
Dieter Tillman, Associate Professor of Physics at STCC, serves as chair for the Tennessee Conference of TAAPT. He said the organization's spring meeting is designed to enhance classroom instruction by expanding the use of technology.
