Southwest Local Site for FBI's Teleconference on Cultural Diversity
Southwest Tennessee Community College (Southwest) is the local host
institution for a nationwide teleconference, Cultural Diversity: Impacting
Every Officer, Every Day. Produced by the Federal Bureau of Investigation
Training Network (FBITN), this two-hour broadcast will be an exploration
of diversity from an organizational and community perspective. It is free
and open to the public.
The broadcast will be aired from noon to 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, at
the Macon Cove Campus, 5983 Macon Cove, in Farris Auditorium. The
teleconference is part of an ongoing series offered by FBITN to the public
and law enforcement agencies at no cost.
This informative session is designed to answer the following question: How
does cultural diversity apply to law enforcement? It will examine the
issue as it relates to recruitment, applicant matters, relationships with
co-workers, and assignment to certain duties.
Topics of discussion include Racial Profiling, Police Misconduct, and
Maintaining the Trust of a Diverse Community. Veteran law enforcement
officials will discuss how these issues on diversity impact the faith and
confidence of the public that they serve.
For additional information, call Southwest at (901) 333-5970.
