Four Southwest Websites win Golden Web Awards
For the fourth consecutive year, websites designed and maintained by Southwest Tennessee Community College have received Golden Web awards from the International Association of Web Masters and Designers (IAWMD).
Since 2000 the College’s public site (http://www.southwest.tn.edu) has been awarded this honor. The athletic site (http://athletics.southwest.tn.edu) has won for the last three years and the Alpha Beta Gamma honor society site (http://clubs.southwest.tn.edu/abg) and the student newspaper, The Source, (http://clubs.southwest.tn.edu/news) have won the last two years.
“The Golden Web Awards is presented to those sites whose web design, originality and content have achieved levels of excellence deserving of recognition,” according to the association.
Southwest Webmaster Bettie Abernathy-Phillips said, “Our site consistently wins because of its usability, design and wealth of information for our students, administrators, faculty and the general public.” The sites are among the only education (.edu) sites that consistently win this award.
Not only does Southwest win awards for its sites, but the College also offers courses to prepare for Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) Certification and does testing for the certification on campus.
Southwest offers associate degree programs, academic and technical certificate programs and courses that prepare students for transfer, employment and advancement.
