The Southwest Tennessee Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams will open the 2003-2004 season with an Alumni Game October 28 in the Verties Sails Gymnasium on the Union Avenue Campus. The women’s game will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m. The games will feature this year’s squads against teams composed of former Saluqis and Lady Saluqis. The alumni game will be a kick-off celebration for the Verties Sails Gym Renovation project. Tickets are $5 for adults (including students) and $2 for children under 12.

Everyone will receive a free gift and have an opportunity to get a free Southwest Alumni sweatshirt. Students will have an opportunity to win tickets to the Grizzlies vs. San Antonio game Monday, November 3, at 7 p.m.

Southwest, Tennessee’s largest two-year college, serves more than 12,000 students in Memphis, Shelby and Fayette counties, and the Tri-State area.

Southwest offers 39 programs for career studies and transfer, 37 two-year programs leading to immediate career entry through the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree, and more than 40 areas of interest in traditional university transfer programs through the Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree and the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree.

In addition, Southwest offers Academic Certificate and Technical Certificate programs in 28 areas. Technical certificates are usually completed in no more than one year, and prepare students for immediate entry positions in high-demand, specialized fields.

Southwest, a Tennessee Board of Regents institution, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
