SALUQIS TO PLAY IN WILLIE LITTLE CLASSIC IN CHICAGO

The Southwest men’s basketball team, now 8-5 on the season and coming
off an impressive 80-55 win over Hiwassee College on Saturday, will
participate in the Willie Little Classic on Friday and Saturday,
December 17-18 in Chicago, Illinois. Other schools playing in the
Classic, which will be hosted by Kennedy-King College, are Cincinnati
State Technical and Community College and Joliet Junior College.
Southwest’s games will be against Cincinnati State on Friday at 6 p.m.
and Kennedy-King on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The Saluqis are led in scoring by freshman guard Anthony “A.J.” Pigram,
who is averaging 13.4 points per game and also leads the team with 36
three-point field goals made. Other top players for Southwest this
season have been freshman swingman Moraye Ivy, who is the only other
Saluqi scoring in double figures at 11.2 points per game; freshman guard
Lester Hudson, who is averaging 9.8 points per game and leads the team
in rebounding with a 6.5 average; freshman forward Deon Lawson (9.3
points, 6.2 rebounds); sophomore guard Alfred “Dee” Burchett (8.9
points, 3.3 rebounds); and sophomore forward Chris Prince (8.9 points,
5.0 rebounds).
Following the Classic, the Southwest men will be idle until Saturday,
January 15, when the Saluqis host Saint Catharine College at the Verties
Sails Gymnasium in a TJCCAA matchup.
