Southwest Alumni Association to Hold Long Drive Fundraiser

Attention Golfers!!!! Come to Southwest Tennessee Community College on Saturday, July 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and test your golf driving skills. The longest drive will win accommodations of their choice of a one week stay in Hawaii or Las Vegas (airfare not included).

Each contestant will be provided five balls for $10. They will be able to drive the balls as far as they can for a chance to win. Balls and tees will be provided by the College. Contestants must bring their own clubs.

Besides competing to win a trip to Hawaii or Las Vegas, golfers will also be able to test their long driving skills against a former nationally ranked college competitor. Instant win prizes will be available from Links at Galloway Golf Course – 18 holes for 4 people including cart – during the week this is a $120.00 value; Division of Park Services City of Memphis – 9 holes for 4 people; Nike, Inc – Nike Adult Unisex Black Caps given to the first 250 attendees; Putt-Putt Golf and Games and many other gifts and prizes.

“A percentage of the money raised in the competitions will go to the Southwest Alumni Association’s Scholarship fund,” said Cheryl Bingham, Director of Alumni Affairs and Scholarship Programs. “Another percentage will go to the College’s Major Gifts Campaign as well. So, bring a lawn chair, your golf clubs and come out, take a chance on a week’s stay in Hawaii or Las Vegas and have a great time with the Southwest Alumni Association.”

The purpose of the Southwest Tennessee Alumni Association is to promote interest in the general welfare of the College, its student body, faculty and staff and promote the College in business and industrial circles and other areas of potential growth.
