LADY SALUQIS SOFTBALL TEAM HOSTS JACKSON STATE IN TJCCAA DOUBLEHEADER

The Southwest softball team, winners of its last seven games, will host
Jackson State Community College on Thursday, April 7 in a 3 p.m.
doubleheader at the Appling Complex.
The Lady Saluqis, now 14-20 on the season, are coming off sweeps of
LeMoyne-Owen and Coahoma earlier this week. They are led by sophomore
leftfielder Ginny Galloway, who leads the team with a .382 batting
average. Other top hitters for Southwest this season are sophomore
catcher Tiffany Bright (.371, 19 runs batted in), freshman first baseman
Jennifer Davenport (.338, 10 RBI), sophomore shortstop Chrissy Odom
(.286), and sophomore third baseman Heather Bryant (.277). Top pitchers
for the Lady Saluqis are freshman right-hander Erica Brich, who leads
the team with four wins and 69 strikeouts, and sophomore left-hander
Katie Cerrito, who has two wins and 21 strikeouts.
Southwest concludes its home stand on Sunday afternoon when the Lady
Saluqis take on Columbia State in a 1 p.m. doubleheader at the Appling
Complex.
