SALUQIS BASEBALL OPENS SEASON WITH WIN OVER BOSSIER PARISH

The Southwest baseball team opened the 2005 season over the weekend in
Bossier City, Louisiana, winning one game and losing two against Bossier
Parish Community College.
On Friday afternoon, the Saluqis defeated Bossier Parish 9-2 behind the
pitching of sophomore left-hander Shane Jackson, who pitched seven
innings and allowed only five hits and one run. Top hitters for
Southwest were Brit Vincent (3 hits), Jeremy Finney (2 hits), and
Collins Coltharp (home run).
Southwest dropped both games on Saturday by scores of 8-6 and 3-2.
Highlighting the doubleheader was a home run by Phillip White in game
one, and four shutout innings by pitcher Jason Adams in game two.
The Southwest baseball team returns to action on Saturday, February 12,
when the Saluqis host Coahoma Community College in a 1 p.m. doubleheader
at Tony Gagliano Memorial Field.
