Two Southwest baseball players have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their education and baseball careers at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.

Brit Vincent, a sophomore leftfielder from Bowling Green, Kentucky, led Southwest this spring with a .391 batting average, 207 at-bats, 81 hits, and 116 total bases, and was second on the team with 18 doubles and 45 runs batted in. He was also named second team All-Conference by the Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association, first team All-Conference by the Tennessee Baseball Report, and also to the Tennessee Baseball Report’s Super Sophomore Team.

First baseman/designated hitter Brendan Murphy, who prepped at Grace Academy in Chattanooga, batted.372 with 68 hits, 16 doubles, six home runs, 51 RBI, 112 total bases, and led the conference with five triples. He was a third team all-conference pick by the TJCCAA, and was a second team selection by the Tennessee Baseball Report.

“This is a good opportunity for Brit and Brendan to play at a high level” said Southwest head coach Johnny Ray. “It is always gratifying to see players that work hard move on to a quality program. Not only is Marshall getting two quality baseball players, but they’re getting a pair of quality individuals.”
