SOUTHWEST SOFTBALL SWEPT BY VOL AND ROANE

The Southwest softball team lost four games over the weekend at the
Buckhead Creek Recreation Complex, dropping their overall record to
18-33 on the season including 5-17 in the TJCCAA.
On Saturday night, the Lady Saluqis lost both ends of a doubleheader to
8th-ranked Volunteer State by scores of 8-0 and 7-0. Southwest had a
total of only three hits in the two games against two of the top
pitchers in the conference.
The Lady Saluqis were also defeated by Roane State 10-2 and 1-0 on
Sunday afternoon. In game two, Erica Brich pitched an outstanding game
allowing only five hits and tying her own school record with 12
strikeouts. Top hitters on the day for Southwest were Jessica Hefflinger
(4 for 5), Gina High (2 hits) and Anna Carter (2 hits).
Southwest plays its final home game of the season on Monday, April 24
against Northwest Mississippi at Buckhead Creek. The doubleheader will
begin at 3 p.m. The Lady Saluqis wrap up the regular season this week
with road games at Three Rivers on Tuesday, April 25, Columbia State on
Friday, April 28 and Volunteer State on Saturday, April 29.
