Southwest Athletic Director Verties Sails Jr. has released the 2006-2007 basketball schedules which includes 13 men’s and women’s home doubleheaders as well as the Saluqis and Lady Saluqis Classics. Southwest will tip-off the season with the Alumni Games on Friday, October 27 at the Verties Sails Gymnasium on the College’s Union Avenue Campus.

The regular season begins on Wednesday, November 1 when Southwest hosts Coahoma Community College. Following second exhibition games on Saturday, November 4 against the State Liners (women) and Spirit Express (men), Southwest travels to the eastern part of the state on November 11-12 to open play in the Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association with games at Roane State Community College (Harriman, TN) and Walters State Community College (Morristown, TN). The following weekend, November 17-18, Southwest hosts Chattanooga State and Motlow State in the first TJCCAA home games of the season.

Other TJCCAA opponents for Southwest are Cleveland State Community College, Columbia State Community College, Dyersburg State Community College, Hiwassee College, Jackson State Community College, Saint Catharine College, and Volunteer State Community College. Both the men and women will play non-conference games against Arkansas Baptist College and Shorter College, while the men only will play Kennedy-King College.

The Southwest men will host the Saluqi Classic on November 24-25 which features Cincinnati State Community College, Columbia State Community College, Genesis One Christian Academy, Howard College, and Volunteer State Community College. Also on the men’s slate is a trip to Pensacola, Florida for the Collegiate Sports Travel Classic on December 29-30.

The 2006-2007 TJCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Tournament will be held March 6-11 at Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, Tennessee. The tournament champions will advance to the NJCAA national tournament March 20-24 in Hutchinson, Kansas (men) and Salina, Kansas (women).
