Southwest Hosts Engineers
Week Student Contest
Written by Brenda J. Rayner
Southwest will host the Engineers Week Student Contest in recognition of
National Engineers Week. National Engineers Week provides an opportunity
for engineers to reach out into their communities to increase awareness
and appreciation of the engineering profession. During the week,
engineers help create an interest in engineering, math and science among
our nation's public schools. For more information visit
www.sme.org.
Sponsored by Memphis-Area Joint Engineers Council, the Engineers Week
Student Contest gives Mid-south middle and high school students the
opportunity to express their creativity and demonstrate their ingenuity
by working on concept projects designed to improve our quality of life.
Judging criteria include benefit to society, creativity, feasibility,
and presentation. Monetary awards are given to the winning schools.
