Release written by Keith Gentry
Imesia Jackson scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the
Southwest women’s basketball team to a 65-57 win over 15th-ranked Motlow
State on Saturday afternoon at the Verties Sails Gymnasium. The win
improved the Lady Saluqis’ record to 10-7 overall and 7-6 in the
Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association.
On Friday night, the Southwest women dropped a 96-80 decision to
19th-ranked Chattanooga State in a game that was much closer than the
score. The Lady Saluqis were down by only three points at the half
(43-40), but couldn’t overcome Chattanooga State’s hot shooting in the
second half. Jackson also led Southwest in this game with 24 points and
11 rebounds, while Priscilla Campbell added 12 points.
The Lady Saluqis return to the court on Saturday, January 21 when
Southwest travels to Jackson, Tennessee to take on Jackson State
Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. Play-by-play for the
game will be broadcast locally on WUMR 91.7 FM.
