Wayne Smith to work with Dance Works and Idlewild School

Giving students a chance to be Creative/Modern. That’s what Wayne Smith
will be doing at Idlewild Elementary with grades one through three in
their after school program on October 26-28. “We are trying to enrich
children’s lives with dance,” said Karen J. Zissoff
Exe. Director of Dance Works, Inc. The Dance Work, Inc. program is
housed at Southwest Tennessee Community College’s Union Avenue Campus
Theater.
Wayne is a dance artist and educator whose background includes a range
of experiences in both dance and theatre. He currently teaches full-time
at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA in the Department of Drama and Dance.
Wayne, a native Memphian, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in
Theater with a concentration in Dance (minor in Mathematics) from the
University of Memphis in Tennessee as well as earning a Master of Fine
Arts degree from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio in
Dance/Choreography.
Wayne does a great deal work with dance organizations Moving in the
Spirit (MITS) Dance Company and City Dance Ensemble in Atlanta. At MITS
& CDE he serves on the administrative boards and committees.
Additionally Wayne performs and choreographs with Project: Motion Dance
based out of Memphis, TN when schedule permits.
