Offer Free Workshop To Help Area Businesses Grow
Written by Brenda J. Rayner
The Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) at Southwest
Tennessee Community College and Seedco, a community and economic
development non-profit, are offering a FREE workshop on November 16,
2006, to aid the growth of existing small and medium size businesses in
communities throughout Shelby County.
The workshop will focus on preparing cash flow projections and analyses
that are needed for financing applications. A panel of community
financing representatives from Seedco Financial Services (SFS),
Southeast Community Capital (SCC), the Center City Commission (CCC), the
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and the Memphis Area Association of
Government (MAAG) will be available to discuss available options for
financing the needs of existing businesses. Edwin Hong, Senior Financial
Services Officer for Seedco, will facilitate the workshop and will also
be on hand to share his expertise with business owners.
Seedco is one of the nation’s leading community development operating
intermediaries, and undertakes a range of lending programs for community
organizations and small businesses. Seedco opened its Memphis office in
2004 to create economic opportunities and provide assistance to
communities throughout the state of Tennessee.
“This is an opportunity for business owners to gain essential
information on business expansion,” said Laura Seidell, Seedco Vice
President. “We will provide valuable insight about obtaining financing
including direct access to community organizations that can provide
alternative financing that many businesses may not realize is
available.”
The workshop will be held at the Renaissance Business Center located at
555 Beale Street on November 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Parking is
free and breakfast will be provided.
Space is limited. Register by November 15 by calling Yolanda Handy at
the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (901) 333.5085.
