Nationally-Noted Journalist Robert Miller Joins Southwest Tennessee Community College’s Communications and Marketing Department as its New Leader 

Memphis, TN – Robert G. Miller has joined Southwest Tennessee Community College as the Executive Director of Communications and Marketing. Miller brings to the College a wealth of experience in broadcast and print journalism, marketing, print and online publishing, public relations, and mass media communications management.

Miller is the former Executive Editor of Black MBA Magazine, Black IT Professional Magazine and Diversified Recruitment, Inc. and has served as Editor and chief editorial consultant for national print publications. As Vice President of Editorial Administration and Editor at IMDiversity, Inc. in New Orleans, he was responsible for executive online content on the Web sites and editorial content and personnel management for THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Magazine. The magazine is the nation's premier and largest career and self-development publication for African-American university students. It is distributed semi-annually to more than 122,000 collegians on over 800 college and university campuses in the nation.

Miller was also the co-owner, publisher and editor of New Orleans East World Magazine. This is the first community publication in Eastern New Orleans, which comprises the largest area of the city and more than 20 percent of the population. This quarterly magazine is a celebration of excellence in New Orleans East, focusing on economic development, education, community service, religion and health care issues. The publication reaches nearly 30,000 New Orleans’ residents.

Miller has also been an award-winning weekly columnist for The Times-Picayune in New Orleans, where for nine years he wrote the column Accent On The East. His column often focused on economic development, education, health care, youth development as well as feature articles on outstanding individuals, community leaders and organizations.

Miller also served as the Assistant to the Chancellor for University Communications for Southern University at New Orleans and President of RGM & Associates, L.L.C. RGM & Associates, L.L.C., founded by Miller, was a group of public relations professionals that provided mass media consulting services to corporations and organizations.

Miller earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1970 from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois (the renown Medill School of Journalism), and his master’s degree in journalism and mass communications also from Northwestern University in 1971. He completed the Advanced Management Development Program in 1978 from the Graduate School of Business at Harvard University. Robert G. Miller is the recipient of numerous awards and has served as the Vice President and Acting President of the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Media Center and as a board member of the Southeast Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross. Miller, a Chicago native, and his wife Prudence are the parents of a grown daughter, Marissa and a grown son, Robert, II.
