Southwest Menís Basketball Team Forfeits Nine Games

Due to an ineligible player participating during the 2007 Fall Semester, the Southwest Tennessee Community College menís basketball team will forfeit nine wins including five conference games during the months of November and December. Including these forfeits, the Saluqisí record currently stands at 13-13 overall and 8-8 in the Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association. Southwest will forfeit non-conference wins over Highland, Coahoma (twice), and Arkansas Tech JV, and TJCCAA wins over Roane State, Walters State, Chattanooga State, Cleveland State, and Hiwassee.

Markecio Beal, who played high school basketball at Wooddale High School in Memphis, received his high school diploma from Cornerstone Christian Correspondence School in Townsend, Georgia. Although Cornerstone Christian is accredited by the Accrediting Commission International and Beal was admitted to Southwest as an incoming freshman, the National Junior College Athletic Association does not recognize Cornerstone Christian as satisfying its bylaws, and did not accept Bealís diploma from the school due to the school not being accredited by the Department of Education in the state of Georgia.

Beal met eligibility requirements during the fall semester at Southwest and is currently playing.
