Hyde Family Foundations Support Southwest Nursing, Natural Sciences and Biotechnology Building Campaign

President Nathan Essex of Southwest Tennessee Community College recently announced a $250,000 commitment from the Hyde Family Foundations for the college’s latest expansion efforts, a new Nursing, Natural Sciences and Biotechnology building planned for the Union Avenue Campus.

The new building is just one of the initiatives in the largest capital campaign in the college’s history. With a goal of $16 million, the campaign, “Southwest and You, Investing in the Future,” focuses on projects which will substantially expand opportunities for students in the college’s Nursing, Natural Sciences, and Biotechnology programs and will help address critical workforce needs identified by the Memphis bioscience community.

“This pledge of support by the Hyde Family Foundations is especially important to our campaign as we strive to continue to impact our community and its residents,” said Karen Nippert, vice president for institutional advancement. “We hope this gift will spur others to make the same commitment to improving the health of our community and improving the livelihood of our citizens,” added Nippert.
