Johnson Named All-American By NJCAA

Sophomore guard Dominique Johnson has been named second team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association, becoming the tenth Saluqi player to be selected to the team.

Johnson played at Laura F. Osborn High School in Detroit and began his collegiate career at St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron, Michigan before transferring to Southwest. After sitting out the 2006-2007 season as a red-shirt, Johnson returned to the court this season and led the Saluqis in scoring (17.6), three-point field goals (69), three-point field goal percentage (.406), and steals (66), and was also among team leaders in free throw percentage (.827). He scored a career-high 34 points against Chattanooga State.

Johnson received first team All-Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association, TJCCAA Western Division Player of the Year, and Co-TJCCAA Player of the Year honors in a vote by the conference coaches. He has signed to play next season at Northern Illinois University.
