TSBDC Offers Strategic Management Learning System Online

The Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) will begin offering its Strategic Management Learning System (SMLS) course online in September. The SMLS course will cover a 12-step business management learning system that has previously only been available in the classroom. “We’re always searching for new and exciting ways to serve our clients,” says David Doyle, executive director of the TSBDC at Southwest Tennessee Community College. “The internet is a convenient, cost-effective way to help our clients grow their businesses.”

A maximum of 12 seats are available for TSBDC’s first SMLS online course which starts on September 9 and ends on December 16. Registration is now underway and ends August 22. Businesses not admitted in the September SMLS online course can enroll in the January 2009 online course.

The personal, one-on-one, consulting available to enrollees of SMLS courses will not be sacrificed with the inception of online courses. “Following up with businesses that take the SMLS course separates us from other management training options,” Doyle says. “Our total package of services, which includes making on-site visits, will continue for the life of the business.”

The Strategic Management Learning System was designed for business owners and managers who have operated a business for at least two years and have three or more employees, or plan to hire employees in the next six months.

Businesses interested in registering for the SMLS online course can visit www.smlsonline.com. For more information about the Tennessee Small Business Development Center at Southwest, call Yolanda Handy at (901) 333-5085 or visit www.tsbdc.org.
