Southwest Kicks Off First Annual Community Expo

In an effort to increase public awareness about its role as the community’s college, Southwest Tennessee Community College is kicking off its “First Annual Southwest Community Expo.” The event will be held on April19 from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Macon Cove Campus located at 5983 Macon Cove. Southwest is a multicultural, public open-access college whose mission is to anticipate and respond to the educational needs of the Mid-South community.

This is a family affair and the entire community is expected to participate; middle school, high school, children and adults – people of all races and ages. The expo will feature a 22 foot slide, combat laser tag, interactive program exhibits, exhibits from Southwest’s community partners i.e., FedEx, photo shoots, food and much more!

The Community Expo will showcase Southwest’s programs, services and benefits for the Mid-South community. Information will be available regarding enrollment, financial aid, scholarships, clubs, sports, job placement, co-ops, online courses, childcare, and more. Throughout the day participants can mix and mingle with students, professors, coaches, admissions counselors, financial aid officers, alumni and other members of the Southwest family.

Three Unity Scholarships will be awarded at the end of the day. All participants will receive Southwest give-a-ways. In addition, Southwest will offer admission application fee waivers on the day of the expo.

Many graduates have said, " Southwest is family oriented and they love coming back to visit because it's like coming home."

The event is free and open to the Mid-South community. For more information and for making group arrangements call (901) 333-5000.
