Southwest Tennessee Community College will host a ribbon cutting/open house ceremony for its recently completed, academic building located on the Macon Cove Campus. The ceremony will take place May 7 at 10 a.m.
The 106,000 square-foot two-story building designed, by Looney, Ricks, and Kiss Architecture, Inc., is a combination of three buildings bridged by two glass atriums. The building contains 28 classrooms, 16 PC labs, 6 science labs, 3 conference rooms, a presentation theatre, Dean's suite, faculty offices, three elevators and a vending area. The building also contains suites for the Service-Learning and Honors Programs, and will improve classroom learning for the Graphic Arts, Paralegal, Music, EMT and other classes currently being held in the Parrish and Jennings Buildings.
Faculty, staff and students are excited about moving into the new facility. Classrooms have been updated with state-of-the-art equipment to improve teaching and enhance student learning. Students enrolled for the summer session, beginning June 1, will be the first to utilize the improvements the new building has to offer.
