Southwest Extends Call Center Hours to Better Serve Working Adult Students

Southwest is excited to announce its new initiative designed to better serve working adult students. The college has extended the Admissions and Records and Financial Aid Call Center hours to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays. During the extended hours, students who are unable to call during the regular 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. operating hours can call Southwest to obtain general information about the college, and also obtain specific information about their Admissions and Records and Financial Aid files.

For several months during the year, call volumes peak, and for January 2010 alone, the call center received over 1,050 telephone calls per day. "Because our desire is to serve all callers, we recognized the need to offer services at non-traditional business hours," said Mona Washington, director of Enrollment Operations for Southwest.

Southwest hopes that offering assistance during evening hours will make it easier for working adults to receive answers to their questions. Washington indicated that many working adults are unable to come to the office or to hold for an available operator during daytime business hours.
