Cynthia Elliott is the newly hired Director of Internal Auditing for Southwest Tennessee Community College. A native of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Elliott brings to the position over 20 years of professional business experience, five as a senior-level manager. Her credentials include: CPA Certification, Tennessee License – 1994; MBA-Finance, Clark Atlanta University – 1991; BS-Statistics, University of Florida – 1981. The Institute of Internal Auditors, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Tennessee Society of CPA's, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. are some of her professional affiliations.
She has worked for such corporate giants as IBM, Federal Express and Deloitte & Touché CPA Firm. She comes to Southwest from the former Crichton College (now Victory University). Her strategic direction for the new position at Southwest, Elliott said, "…is to insure that everyone is aware of the critical functions of the Internal Auditing Department and avail my services to the faculty, staff and students"
As an accomplished public speaker, she has lectured on such topics as Comprehending Basic Statistics, Using Microsoft Excel Effectively, Understanding the Theory behind Debits & Credits, Balancing the Checkbook, and Why is it Necessary to set Goals, to name a few.
A published author, Elliott recently finished a book titled, ABCs that Make Cent$ − Tools needed to successfully climb your financial ladder to wealth. "The letters of the alphabet (ABCs) are used to guide the readers toward smart and purposeful spending while planning for the future," she stated. ABCs that Make Cent$ will be available at www.authorhouse.com in September.
