Financial Aid Census/Freeze Policy

In accordance with federal regulations, the Financial Aid Office will recalculate federal, state, and institutional aid awards based on the enrollment status as of our published census date which is the 14th day of class for both Fall and Spring terms. It varies for summer classes. Therefore, we freeze enrollment on the census date. The term census date refers to the point at which a student's enrollment is locked for financial aid purposes and "official enrollment" reporting for the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR). Once we freeze, financial aid pays on the enrollment at the time of the freeze. After the census date, students cannot request award adjustment to the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Work-Study or Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) which are all Title IV programs. This rule also applies to State programs as well.
