We are excited to announce that Southwest Tennessee Community College will salute its Spring 2018 graduates at Commencement Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the FedEx Forum in beautiful Downtown Memphis, Tennessee.
We are extremely proud of all of our graduates and look forward to celebrating their esteemed accomplishments as they move onward and upward in their lives. Please stay tuned to additional details and important dates and deadlines that are forthcoming in preparation for this momentous occasion.
Commencement Speaker, Dr. Ann Wooten Langston
The Keynote Speaker for this year's ceremonies is Dr. Ann Wooten Langston, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and Opportunities at the Church Health, whose purpose is to improve health and well-being so that people can experience the full richness of life. Ann attended Southern Methodist University where she earned her B.A. and J.D. degrees. She practiced law for 22 years, first in Atlanta, GA then Memphis, TN before joining Church Health in 1999.
Ann currently serves on the boards of Community Redevelopment Agency and the Foundation for Southwest Tennessee Community College. She is a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and serves on the board of St. John’s United Methodist Church, where she is also Lay Leader. Applying For Graduation
Students planning to graduate should follow the steps outlined below:
- Complete the online Application for Graduation through the My.Southwest portal.
- Schedule missing course requirements to be completed during the perceived final semester.
- Schedule and complete any required graduate exit exam(s).

- Educational Testing Service (ETS) Proficiency Profile Test
All Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.) and Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree graduating students are required to take this test.
- Major Field Examination
All Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree graduating students are required to take an examination in their major field of study.
