Graduates participanting in the commencement ceremony must wear a Southwest Tennessee Community College approved cap and gown. Graduates are asked not to alter or decorate their regalia in any way or to wear additional articles not directly related to academic merit. Doing so may interfere with their ability to participate.
If you have submitted your application for graduation to the Admissions office, cap and gown measurement information should be submitted online from March 15 through April 15, 2013. Cap and Gown orders will not be accepted after April 15, 2013.
The faculty regalia and student cap/gown measurement online submission has closed.
Graduation honors for the ceremony are determined by using college level grade point average (GPA) for coursework through the fall semester.
Graduation with academic honors is reserved for students who have completed associate degree requirements. Students who have attained a 3.25 GPA wear gold tassels during the graduation ceremony. Students who have been inducted into an honor society may choose to wear special stoles engraved with the society's Greek symbols.
Graduates who are members of Phi Theta Kappa and are interested in purchasing Phi Theta Kappa regalia must do so by contacting Phi Theta Kappa Recognitions Services. Orders may be made by telephone at 800-946-9996, or online, at Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Recognitions Online. Graduates are free to wear any of the regalia items sold. To order regalia, graduates must provide their membership number. If you are unsure of your membership number, please contact your Phi Theta Kappa advisor.
Gown and cap return will occur immediately following the commencement ceremony, upon exiting the arena. Graduates may keep the tassels as mementos.
During the GRAD Fair, you must pick up your pronouncer card before you pick up your cap and gown. Caps and gowns will not be issued to graduates without pronouncer cards. Only the graduate may pick up the pronouncer card.
Gowns and caps must be returned to the company representatives immediately after the ceremony at the Landers Center. You may keep the tassel.
Tassels are worn to the right side for the processional.
