Medical Laboratory and Laboratory Phlebotomy Technician Programs
The mission of the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) and Laboratory Phlebotomy Technician (LPT) programs is to provide graduates with fundamental competencies in professional disciplines that will enable them to secure employment and successfully perform in the workplace.
The MLT and Laboratory Phlebotomy Technician programs provide quality instruction and learning activities appropriate for the discipline. The programs recognize the importance of professional competence and the obligation they have to provide well-trained health care professionals for the citizens of Shelby and Fayette counties and the surrounding Mid-South region. As a result, development of professional competence, personal growth and appropriate patient care are integrated into each area of the curriculum.
The Laboratory Phlebotomy Technician program is the only National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) approved program in the State of Tennessee. The MLT program is accredited by NAACLS and is licensed by the State of Tennessee Department of Health.
