Financial Aid Terms and Conditions
Please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully. By applying for and accepting financial aid at Southwest Tennessee Community College (SWTCC), you agree to comply with the responsibilities outlined below.
- Tuition and Fee Due Date Extension
I understand that by applying for and receiving financial aid, the due date for my tuition and fees (normally the first day of the term) may be extended. However, if I do not officially withdraw from my courses before the first day of class, I will be responsible for any resulting tuition and fee charges. - Responsibility for Payment
I understand that I am financially responsible for any tuition and fees not covered by financial aid. This includes any balance remaining due to ineligibility, incomplete paperwork, withdrawal from courses, or cancellation of aid. I also understand that any financial aid funds—including Federal, State, Institutional, or external sources—and any applicable student fee refunds, will be applied to any outstanding balance on my account, including bookstore charges. - Non-Attendance Does Not Cancel Financial Responsibility
I understand that simply not attending class does not release me from financial responsibility. I must officially drop or withdraw from any courses I do not plan to attend in accordance with college procedures. - Official College Communication
I understand that SWTCC communicates official and legally binding notifications via my official SWTCC email account and the student portal. I am responsible for checking and reading all messages sent to my email and posted on the portal. - Enrollment Status and Award Adjustments
I understand that my financial aid may initially be based on full-time enrollment and is subject to adjustment based on my actual enrollment status. Changes to my course schedule may affect the amount and type of aid I am eligible to receive. - Credit Balance Disbursement
I understand that if my financial aid exceeds the total amount of my charges, I will receive a refund for the remaining balance. - Repayment Due to Withdrawal or Non-Attendance
I understand that if I withdraw or stop attending classes, I may be required to repay all or a portion of the financial aid I received, based on the timing of my withdrawal. - Reporting Additional Financial Aid
I understand that I am required to report any financial aid offers not previously awarded by SWTCC, including but not limited to external scholarships, grants, loans, or fee waivers. - Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
I understand that continued eligibility for financial aid is contingent upon meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards as outlined in the policy on the SWTCC website. - Agreement to Terms
By accepting my financial aid awards, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions. I agree to pay all tuition and fees due, and I understand that if I fail to meet my obligations, I may be subject to collection actions, including reasonable legal fees.
