The Maxine A. Smith Center, named in honor of the esteemed civil rights activist and advocate for education, serves as a vital hub for community engagement and educational development.
The center provides a wide array of programs and services designed to empower individuals and enhance their educational experiences. With a focus on inclusivity and accessibility, the center offers resources such as workshops, seminars, and tutoring that cater to diverse learning needs. Through collaborative partnerships with local organizations and dedicated staff, the Maxine A. Smith Center strives to foster personal growth, professional development, and a strong sense of community, making it an essential resource for residents and students alike, conveniently located for those in Southeast Memphis, Collierville, Germantown, and Olive Branch area.
The center is a state-of-the-art, three-story facility encompassing 67,300 square feet. It features a library, eight computer classrooms, and 21 additional classrooms, including specialized laboratories for chemistry, biology, and science.
With a comfortable student lounge and administrative offices, the Maxine A. Smith Center is designed to meet the educational needs of the community while providing a welcoming environment for all.

Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC): The Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) offers no-cost, confidential business consulting services. Learn how to start, manage, or grow your business by visiting TSBDC Memphis Center.
Dual Enrollment: The Southwest Dual Enrollment Program allows high school students—usually sophomores, juniors, and seniors—to enroll in college courses for credit before graduating from high school. Dual enrollment is a convenient and cost-effective way for high school students to transition into college.
Southwest Workforce and Community Solutions: SWACA offers tailored education and training programs to help individuals enhance their technical and professional skills. We provide personal and professional enrichment courses, as well as community programs available both on campus and online. Our industry-specific training aligns with local job market needs, ensuring high-quality programs that boost employee performance.
We offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for both non-credit and credit courses, along with Comprehensive Career Readiness Training through SouthwestWORKS to equip participants with vital workforce skills. Additionally, we provide ESL (English as a Second Language) classes to support language development and cultural integration. Our commitment is to empower the community through effective education and skill enhancement.
