Employee of the Month
Purpose
This is a monthly program that recognizes employees who go above and beyond typical job expectations, provide outstanding customer service, or perform distinctive achievements that impact their department or institution.
Eligibility:
All full and part-time staff and administrative employees who have been employed at least six months are eligible. The following individuals are not eligible for nomination (although they can vote):
- the president
- vice presidents or associate vice presidents
- deans or associate deans
- executive directors who report to a vice president or the president and faculty
In order to be considered, employees who are nominated must not have any documented corrective action within the past six months.
How to Nominate
An employee of the month nomination form must be completed and submitted by the 15th of the month prior to the selection. The achievements for which the employee is being recognized must have been accomplished within the last 60 days. The nominator does not have to be the supervisor or director of the respective department; however, the nominator must be someone who has direct knowledge of the nominee’s contributions in the area for which they are being nominated. No anonymous submissions will be accepted.
Selection Process
A committee representing the Professional Administrative Staff Organization (PASO) and Support Staff Organization (SSO) will review all nomination forms for the Employee of the Month award.
Award
The selected employee of the month will be contacted by a committee member and receive five free meals from The Taste at Southwest (lunch or breakfast), and a temporary, reserved parking space of choice on his/her main campus (parking restrictions may apply).
Employee of the Year
The Employee of the Year will be selected from the twelve Employees of the Month for that year. The selection committee will make its selection based on information originally submitted. The President will present the Employee of the Year award during the Annual Service Awards Banquet in April. The Employee of the Year will receive an engraved plaque and an article announcing the recognition will be published in the Scoop. Each recipient's name will be engraved on an Employee of the Year plaque displayed at Southwest and an award letter will be sent to the employee's supervisor.
