PROVE IT

For example, if you have worked in a specific field—such as information technology, business, healthcare, or skilled trades—you may be able to demonstrate your experience and earn credit for an equivalent Southwest course.\

PORTFOLIO ASSESSMENT

What to include:

Portfolio documentation varies by course but may include:

  • Samples of your work or project documentation
  • Certificates or training completion records
  • A reflective essay explaining your learning and outcomes
  • Letters from employers verifying your experience
  • A faculty evaluator will review your portfolio to determine whether your documented learning meets the course’s objectives.
When you pursue PLA Portfolio Credit, Southwest will guide you through every step of the process. Faculty and staff can help you identify the best course matches for your experience and assist you in preparing your portfolio materials.

PERFORMANCE ASSESMENT

Performance assessment is the application of knowledge, skills and work habits through the performance of tasks.

PLA credit for some credit courses may require the student to demonstrate their mastery of course outcomes through a practical demonstration of their knowledge and skills.
