Sophia Hahn
Title: Success Coach
Location: Union Avenue Campus
Phone: 901-333-5153
Email: shahn@southwest.tn.edu
Sophia Hahn is a native Memphian with a passion for student success within her community. When first arriving at Southwest, she sought out higher education guidance through the SMARTS Program under the mentorship of Dr. Thomas Cole.
Once she got her bearings, she hit the ground running and became a Peer Tutor at the Academic Support Center, where she stayed for nearly 5 years. After graduating from Southwest Tennessee Community College, Sophia transferred over to the University of Memphis to earn her Bachelor of Arts in World Languages, where she studied German, Japanese, and American Sign Language. This opened several doors of opportunity for her to travel and learn about other cultures.
During her last year of undergraduate studies, she became a Success Coach with Peer Power through the University of Memphis at Melrose High School. Sophia's experience there made her realize what her calling was: breaking down barriers for others. She got accepted into the University of Memphis’s Master of Arts in Teaching program and taught German at Melrose High School for 2 years.
As she wraps up her program, Sophia continues to pursue what she loves through being a Success Coach. Given her incredibly diverse experience with people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures, she is able to connect easily with any student who comes to her for help.
In her free time, Sophia plays drums, paints, and tends to her plants.

Hey there! I love helping people. My personal mission is to pursue a quality of life that maximized my personal, moral, social, and financial potential—and to help others achieve the same. Being a Success Coach, to me, means standing in the gap and connecting people to services, programs, and other people who can help them maximize their potential.
