By Daphne J. Thomas
Southwest Tennessee Community College has closed Rooms A106, 107, 109 and in the Academic Building on the Macon Cove Campus for sanitation following a reported case of COVID-19. The classrooms were identified as visited by an individual who submitted a report of a positive COVID-19 test. They reopen Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021. Classes will take place as scheduled. Students with classes in those rooms should contact his or her professor regarding the alternate class location.
The Shelby County Health Department has recommended only closing the areas identified as visited by individuals who self-reported. Other areas of the building will remain open for operations while the College performs sanitation in the affected area in accordance with Back to Campus Plan guidelines and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention standards.
Southwest is performing contact tracing and notifying individuals who may have been in contact with the individual who tested positive for COVID-19.
