Macon Cove & Union Avenue campuses reopen; student support services remain online

Nearly 700 students returned to Southwest Tennessee Community College’s Macon Cove and Union Avenue campuses July 8, 2020, to attend summer classes in person. It was the first time students were allowed back to the campuses since the College temporarily closed its locations and moved to an online learning format March 23 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The reopening is part of the College’ Back to Campus Plan – Phase I. Only assigned students taking select courses were admitted to the campuses. All student support services, such as administration, financial aid, academic support and new student orientations, remain online.

To gain access to the campuses, students, and essential employees, had to pass an online health assessment before arriving to campus. The online health assessment is required each day BEFORE arrival at either Southwest location. Once an individual passes the health assessment, a confirmation or health pass is sent by email AND text and must be presented upon arrival.

Additionally, each person participated in a body temperature scan and was instructed to wear a face mask and gloves at all times while on campus. NOTE: ONLY STUDENTS WHO HAVE CLASSES SCHEDULED ON EITHER THE MACON COVE OR UNION AVENUE CAMPUSES WILL BE ALLOWED ACCESS AND MUST LEAVE CAMPUS AS SOON AS CLASSES ARE OVER. ALL OTHER LOCATIONS REMAIN CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.
