TN Promise community service requirement waived for spring semester

By Diana Fedinec

Tennessee PromiseThe Tennessee Higher Education Commission and Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation have waived the Tennessee Promise community service requirement for spring semester 2021. The waiver was announced Oct. 8, 2020 and refers to the community service hours TN Promise students must complete on or before Dec. 1, 2020.

THEC and TSAC made the decision due to current conditions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and out of an abundance of caution for the students and the communities they serve.

A TN Promise student beginning or continuing enrollment at an eligible institution for spring semester 2021 will not be required to complete and submit community service to maintain eligibility.

THEC and TSAC will continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in Tennessee to determine any additional accommodations which may become necessary in fall semester 2021 and beyond.
