The Memphis Suzuki Institute (MSI) holds its nine day children’s music training event each year the first of June (6/8-6/16). In the past it has been held at the University of Memphis (UofM). This year MSI was informed that they could no longer hold the event at the UofM due to remodeling of the facilities. Via Associate Professor Valetta Brinson’s music connections, we had the opportunity to host this exciting educational endeavor. In return for the use of our facilities, our students and faculty had the opportunity to participate as observers, participants and instructors. In addition MSI is prepared to make a Foundation donation to support our Music Scholarship Fund.
The Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) is a coalition of teachers, parents, educators, and others who are interested in making music education available to all children. The SAA provides programs and services to members throughout North and South America. The Memphis Suzuki Institute is one of the first established in the nation.
All performances were held in the Farris Auditorium and included Honors Recitals, Concerto Night and a Piano Solo Recital.
