Southwest is thankful to have the ongoing support of the AT&T Foundation. As part of its continuing commitment to help colleges provide a quality education to students across Tennessee, the AT&T Foundation has donated $130,000 to the Tennessee Board of Regents’ 13 community colleges that will be equally distributed. The money is earmarked to provide last-dollar scholarships for minority and underserved students.
AT&T’s Regional Director of External & Legislative Affairs Chuck Thomas III presented Southwest a $10,000 Sept. 30, 2021. Joining him were Tennessee State Senators Mark White and Raumesh Akbari.
“We are grateful to AT&T for its continued support of public higher education and our students who will benefit greatly from their generosity,” President Tracy D. Hall said. “Our students have many financial needs aside from the cost of tuition and this support will help them stay on the path to a college credential.”
According to TBR, the AT&T Last Dollar scholarships will aid students with such costs of attendance as books, childcare, transportation, professional certification exams fees and other costs not covered by most financial aid programs.
