Southwest Tennessee Community College is thrilled to announce it has been awarded $233,100 as part of the Perkins READI (Reimagine, Engage, And Develop Innovation) Grant aimed at enhancing Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs across the state.
The READI Grant is designed to support innovative CTE programs that align with emerging technologies and high-demand occupations. The funds will be strategically utilized to develop and enhance programs that prepare students for high-skill, high-wage careers in fields such as healthcare, information technology, and advanced manufacturing. At Southwest, the funding will support the Funeral Services, Automotive, and Graphic Arts programs by updating hardware and equipment. This will ensure that students have access to the latest technology and tools, preparing them for the demands of the modern workforce.
This grant significantly bolsters Southwest’s efforts in workforce development. By aligning educational programs with industry needs, the college aims to produce graduates who are ready to meet the demands of today's job market. The grant also facilitates partnerships with local businesses and industries, creating pathways for students to gain real-world experience through internships and apprenticeships.
“Southwest remains committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities and fostering an inclusive environment where all students can thrive,” said Thomas Cole, coordinator of the Perkins Grant at Southwest. “The Perkins READI Grant is a testament to the college's dedication to innovation, equity, and excellence in education.”
