Southwest Tennessee Community College Kicks Off 2025 Homecoming Celebrating 25 Years with Community-Wide Events

(Memphis, Tenn.) – Southwest Tennessee Community College is proud to announce its 2025 Homecoming festivities, which this year hold special significance as the institution celebrates its 25th anniversary. During the Homecoming week of Oct. 25 through Nov. 1, the college invites the community-at-large to join in three marquee events designed to highlight the college’s legacy of achievement and community spirit. The events take place at the Union Avenue Campus, 737 Union Avenue, Memphis, Tenn., 38103.

Silver Saluqi Mixer
Date & Time: October 30 | 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Location: Nathan Essex Nursing, Natural Sciences, and Biotechnology Building (Nursing Building) lobby

This year’s mixer carries the theme “Silver Saluqi — a nod to the institution’s milestone 25 years of service to the Mid-South region. The informal evening includes networking, refreshments, photo opportunities, a trip down memory lane, and a chance to toast the quarter-century mark of the college.

Accolades Brunch | Honoring Hall of Fame Athletes
Date & Time: October 31 | 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Location: Building B-106

The Accolades Brunch is a distinguished celebration honoring the achievements and lasting contributions of this year’s Saluqi Hall of Fame inductees. Ten exceptional individuals will be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments, exemplary leadership, and positive impact in the community. The honorees are (Basketball) Steve Ballard, Lorico Duncan, John Grice and Lester Hudson; (Women’s Basketball) Amie Williams and Ashley Shields; (Baseball) Johnie Sanfratello and Nick Smith; and (Softball) Amber Hayes and Alex Turner. Tailgating and Game Day Celebration
Date: November 1
Time: Tailgate at 10 am; Games: 2 p.m. Women’s Basketball; 4 p.m. Men’s Basketball
Location: Tailgate at the Verties Sails Gymnasium tennis courts; Games in Verties Sails Gymnasium

This year’s tailgating combines a 25th anniversary celebration to include dozens of games and activities, food trucks, music, grilling, the Overton High School drum line, retiree recognition and so much more, followed by the traditional Saluqi game day competition against the LeMoyne-Owen College Magicians.
