RETIREMENT: Yolanda Smith, Payroll Director
Yolanda Smith joined the Southwest family April 1, 1987, as a cashier. She retires April 30, 2018, as director of Payroll.
As Payroll director for the past 25 years, Smith has overseen the College’s compliance of all state and federal payroll processes, processed payroll employer tax forms, monitored internal controls to ensure accuracy and consistency of all payroll processes and overseen payroll system testing, maintenance and upgrades.
She says she will miss the flexible work schedule (a very important perk for the single
mom of a busy student-athlete), challenges of payroll accounting and the relationships
she has fostered with colleagues over the years. I will certainly miss Bridget Johnson, my first temporary hire in 1989, and many other
fellow Southwest family members.
Smith plans to travel and spend more time with her 8 year old grandson, Braylon.
Congratulations, Yolanda and best wishes!
