Students connect with over 40 employers at Fall Career Fair
More than 250 students attended the annual Fall Career Fair last month on the Union Avenue Campus hoping one of the 44 companies that participated would have the job they have been preparing to pursue.
Students and alumni benefited from numerous opportunities to speak with representatives from a variety of industries in the corporate, governmental and non-profit sectors. Career Services Department Director Brenda Williams says Career Services staff encourage Southwest students to attend their job fairs no matter how close or how far away they are from reaching their academic goals. “There is more to a career fair than looking for a job,” Williams said. “New students can discover jobs they were unaware of, continuing students can engage with companies offering internships related to their major, and soon-to-be graduates can learn about full-time job opportunities,” she added. “And students also get a chance to practice their communication and business networking skills.”
Faculty, staff and students also were recognized during the Career Fair competition.
