Be a victor, not a victim: Southwest Police Services/Public Safety to offer R.A.D. self-defense certification for female employees in January
R.A.D. self-defense certification classes originally scheduled for Dec. 19 and 20, 2018, have been moved to Jan. 9 and 10, 2019. The new deadline to submit your registration form is Jan. 7, 2019.
Southwest’s Office of Police Services/Public Safety will offer a nine-hour certification course in basic self-defense through R.A.D. (Rape, Agression, Defense) Systems to all Southwest female employees at the Macon Campus, Jan. 9 and 10.
The two-day training allows women to develop and enhance their self-defence techniques with the goal of being a “victor, not a victim” if they are attacked. The R.A.D. course has its foundation in education, risk awareness, risk reducton, and risk avoidance. The nine-hour course (4.5 hours each day) includes lecture, discussion, and self-defense techniques suitable for women of all ages and capabilities. Participants must register and attend both sessions to receive a R.A.D. Certificate in Self-Defense.
Registration forms are available at our Union Ave. and Macon Campuses in the Office of Police Services/Public Safety. Forms must be complete and submitted by Jan. 7 to the Office of Police Services/Public Safety. For questions, contact Assistant Director of Police Services/Public Safety Ernest Greenleaf at egreenleaf@southwest.tn.edu.
