Complete mandatory Title IX training by Dec. 31
To provide a safe and welcoming campus, all Southwest faculty and staff are required to participate in Title IX training by Dec. 31, 2018. The yearly training is a part of Southwest’s ongoing efforts to assure higher levels of compliancy with applicable laws and regulations. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program or activity that receives federal funding. Under Title IX, discrimination on the basis of sex can include sexual harassment, rape, and sexual assault.
This year Southwest will award prizes to participants chosen at random who complete their training by December 31. Winners will be announced January 4, 2019.
Southwest has partnered with EverFi to provide this training through the Haven for Faculty and Staff, an online, interactive training course. Haven for Faculty and Staff contains challenging real-life situations and information on Southwest policies. In cooperation with the National Domestic Violence Hotline, an anonymous “Chat with an Advocate” button is provided during the course for any person who wishes to speak to a trained hotline advocate. Advocates are available every day from 7 a.m. - 2 a.m. (CST). Using the advocate chat feature is completely confidential; participants’ information will not be collected by EverFi nor shared with Southwest.
