Dear Southwest Tennessee Community College Team,

As we embark on a new academic year, I want to extend a warm welcome to each of you. Your dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to our students and community continue to inspire and uplift us all.

Our mission at Southwest Tennessee Community College is the heartbeat of everything we do, guiding our actions and decisions each day. It bears repeating here: 

At Southwest Tennessee Community College, community is our middle name. As a teaching and learning college, our students pursue associate degrees and technical certificates and engage in workforce development training to prepare them for the demands of an evolving marketplace. Our ability to change and adapt to uplift our students and serve our community makes us unique. At Southwest, we believe everyone deserves an opportunity.

I hope you carry our mission with you into every aspect of the work you do. It is through our shared commitment that we transform this belief in our mission into reality, ensuring that every student and the communities we serve, feel the impact of our support.

This past summer, we faced an unprecedented challenge in the form of a cybersecurity incident which causes significant technical difficulties and disruptions. However, the resilience, flexibility, and collaborative spirit that each of you demonstrated in the face of this challenge have been nothing short of remarkable. I want to personally thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate these challenges together. Rest assured, your safety and privacy remain our highest priorities. Our IT team has implemented enhanced security measures and is working diligently to restore our systems to full functionality.

As we move forward into this academic year, let's continue to work as a team, supporting one another and our students in their journeys. The road ahead may bring new challenges, but I am confident that with the same resilience and dedication you’ve shown, we will overcome them together.
