Southwest Tennessee Community College President Dr. Tracy D. Hall Honored as a 2025 Memphis Living Legend
Southwest Tennessee Community College President Dr. Tracy D. Hall has been named a
2025 Memphis Living Legend/Trailblazer by New Sardis Baptist Church. This prestigious
honor, presented by Senior Pastor Rev. Darell Harrington, recognizes Dr. Hall’s outstanding
contributions to the Memphis community and her impact on African American heritage.
The 25th Annual Memphis Living Legends Heritage Celebration took place on Feb. 23, where Dr. Hall’s achievements were highlighted among other distinguished honorees. This year’s theme, Strength in Unity, honored and celebrated the men and women who have blazed a path in their respective fields and made significant contributions in Memphis and beyond.
Dr. Hall was recognized for her transformative leadership in higher education as a champion for student success, economic mobility and equitable access to education. She made history in 2015 as the first woman to serve as president of Southwest, where she has led the institution to national recognition. Under her leadership, the college earned an American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Award of Excellence and was designated an Achieving the Dream Leader College.
Dr. Hall’s commitment to education and community service extends beyond the college. She serves on several influential boards including the American Association of Community Colleges, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the Memphis Medical District Collaborative. She has also served on the Greater Memphis Chamber and recently concluded her multi-year service as Board Chair of the Memphis Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
